Update on Chris 12/30/06

Dear Friends and Family,

Just a quick update on Chris… He was admitted into the hospital again Thursday evening, for uncontrollable high fever, and some other flu like symptoms. His fever continued to worsen through the night, even while being treated with Tylenol and IV antibiotics. At 3:00 in the morning, it was determined that his oxygen level was too low, so he was put on an oxygen mask. He continued to wear the mask through the night and day. His breathing never improved much and his cough worsened and turned into dry heaves, since he hasn’t eaten or drank in almost three days. After a chest x- ray, it was determined that he has pneumonia in his left side. They continued to treat him with IV antibiotics and also gave him blood, since his red counts were low.

As of about 8:30 this evening, he went into respiratory distress and the rapid response team was called in. They worked on him until he was stable and contacted the doctor. He has been put on a CPAP machine to assist his breathing. They believe this will solve the problem, but the next step will be a ventilator tube. After getting comfortable on the CPAP, he became stable and was resting with good vitals.

Chris’ dad is staying with him tonight. Chris’ mom helped me to come home. I needed to regroup and hug the kids. The kids are going to the farm to stay with family until Monday. Chris’ parents are available to help with rides and such. Please keep us in your prayers and pray that Chris’ strength is renewed. Thank you for your prayers.

Love,

Mandy
