Joyce Family Update 5-10-07
Many of you have asked for an update, so here it is… Chris did have chemo last Thursday, 5/3. He also had his first follow- up appointment with the Rehab Doctor. She was so happy about the progress he had made since she saw him last. Since he is getting around pretty well now, she has stopped in- home therapy and suggested a gym membership, to work on his endurance. They will, however, continue working on his left arm, the one that never received therapy after the surgery at Thanksgiving. Although, it has improved a little, it is still in a lot of pain and doesn’t have a good range of motion. The rehab doctor has ordered nerve testing on it, which is scheduled for May 31st. This will help to determine if we are dealing with a bigger problem. After this, they will determine whether more therapy can help or if he should consult back with the surgeon who performed the surgery and see if there are any surgery options.
This round of chemo has hit him pretty hard and he has been extremely nauseated and weak. He tries to work from home a little, as he can, but spends a lot of time resting. He goes back to see the doctor and have lab work and hopefully chemo on May 24th. Thank you for your continued prayers for Chris’ full healing.
Other family news… many of you know that Chris 84 year old grandmother, Meme, had knee surgery before Easter. She came home and has been recovering well, but has been readmitted to the hospital this week, after a fall. Her surgery area split open and surgery was performed again, to check the area and put in more stitches. I have been told that she is bruised all over her body and may even have some broken bones in her face. She doesn’t remember what happened and may have blacked out, so they are keeping in her to run tests. Despite all of this, she is doing okay and seems to be communicating, laughing, joking, etc. Please pray for her quick recovery and that the doctors are able to get answers from their testing. Her name is Helen Joyce (or Meme). J
Also, it seems that our air conditioner went out today. L Fortunately, it has been rainy today and there has been a nice breeze with the windows open. We have called some one to come look at it and they are coming tomorrow. Please pray that this is a simple problem that can be easily repaired.
Thank you for continuing to pray for and care for our family.
Love,
Mandy

Mandy, your family continues to be in my prayers. I have a sister who is undergoing aggressive chemo for breast cancer and know some of the toll it takes on them and the family. God is in control ~ my how He's proved that over and over.
I'm so glad to read things are improving.
God Bless,
Lana
