Chris and I were at Baylor Dallas today for his transplant workup. Chris went through most of the days’ scheduled tests and then met with his doctor. After reviewing the Pet Scan results, the doctor believes that now is not the right time to move forward with the transplant. Although we believe that there has been some response to the recent chemotherapy, it is not at the place the doctor was hoping for. The doctor took us to look at the scan results… he confirmed spots on the liver and abdominal lymph nodes. The cancer is gone from the lung, but is now in the left humerus (upper arm bone) and they are watching some other areas.
At this time, the doctor has decided to do some more chemotherapy, another combination of chemo drugs. This regimen will consist of four outpatient visits over the next two months. After this, they will revisit the transplant option.
Chris’ condition is no worse now, than it was six weeks ago. This most recent regimen was just not the one, so we will keep trying.
Needless to say, the days’ events have left us with mixed emotions. Although we left with a plan and hope, it was not the outcome we were anticipating today. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.
