Update on Chris 4-9-07
Sorry I haven’t sent out an update lately. Things have been fairly calm around here, so there hasn’t been too much to report. But, I know many of you are still praying for Chris and our family, so I wanted to give you an update.
Chris spent all of last week, miserable with nausea and fatigue, from the chemo. He spent a lot of time sleeping and his nausea seemed to be controllable with medication, but kept coming back. Despite this, he continues to eat fairly well and has been drinking plenty of fluids. His doctor changed some of his blood pressure medications and this has helped to make his blood pressure go down. But, it is still higher than it should be, which puts a hold on his in home therapy. They usually don’t want to come out and work with him if his BP is high, cause it will just make it go higher. Please continue to pray that his BP will get under control, so that he can get some good therapy time in for the next few weeks. He goes back to Baylor on April 19th for a CT Scan, a doctors appointment and chemo. We are praying for some good results from the CT Scan. I am very hopeful that this new doctor and new chemo regimen is working. Keep praying!
Although the last week was miserable with the nausea, he seems to be on the up-swing the past two days. He spent some time Saturday working at his desk, on filing, taxes, etc. This may seem like a small thing to many people, but it was very encouraging for me to see. The best part of our weekend was that he went to church with us on Easter morning. This is the first time he has been out of the house, since he got home from the hospital, other than for chemo. He even drove, against everybody’s wishes, but you know how stubborn he can be. He got in and out of the truck easily and drove just like he’d been driving everyday in the last three months! He used his wheelchair to get around the church building. It was nice to see our friends at church. I would say he was definitely exhausted when we got home, but it was a nice day.
On a personal note form me, I continue to be blessed by memories of how so many of you gave so much to help our family through the last few months. The list is too long… just know that it will never be forgotten and I pray daily that God will pour His blessings out on you, as you showed God’s love to us when we needed it most. The amazing thing is, you keep giving! With the road ahead, still long, it is comforting to still feel so much love. Thank you to every one who was involved in the PCA garage sale, whether giving your time, donations or shopping. The outcome was overwhelming and will help us significantly with school expenses for the upcoming school year. I wish I could give each of you a big hug.
Thanks for the continued prayers. It has been nice to have Chris home with us and not back in the hospital. It’s because of your prayers. We love you.
