Update on Chris 6-8-07
Chris had a doctors appointment and chemo scheduled yesterday at Baylor. Not much new news to share, but Chris’ blood counts were all good enough to proceed with chemo as scheduled. The doctor said that the x-ray on the arm didn’t show any significant changes, so far now, he is just trying to control the pain and wants Chris to continue to work with the rehab doctor on therapy and nerve testing. Chris’ blood pressure has been high again lately, so he is starting him back on medication for that. The severe nausea is still there, but seems to be getting a little better each day. He has several different medications and ideas to work with for that. It’s sort of a vicious cycle, cause now that he was starting to get a little control over the nausea from the last few weeks, the chemo from yesterday will probably kick in soon and start to make him feel bad again. It’s frustrating, but he’s hanging in there.
When the doctor said that we would go through with chemo yesterday, we were surprised. We anticipated his blood counts being too low or something. Chris asked him if he wanted to change the dose of the chemo drugs and the doctor said “ No, I want to see if we can get this into remission.” This is the first time we have ever heard a doctor say the word “remission.” It was a nice thing to hear and gave us hope again.
Chris is scheduled to go back to Baylor July 3rd, for a CT Scan, doctors appointment and possible chemo. Between now and then, please remember Chris and our family in your prayers. Thank you.
Love,
Mandy
