Update on Chris -July 3

Hello~
I received an update from Mandy's mom, Tammie, yesterday evening and wanted to share this latest information with you.

Chris wasn't able to sleep at all on Sunday night which was very hard on both Mandy and Chris. Mandy shared with her mom how it has been almost impossible to be there with Chris and watch him giving up. The doctors have told him that unless they see him trying to get stronger that they cannot do anymore treatments for him. It is breaking Mandy's heart to see him not try. The doctor gave Chris an antidepressant yesterday which will hopefully help. He did try to get up once yesterday but it was kind of a disaster she said. Then during the afternoon he did sit up for a little while. He is also saying things that don't make any sense, so Mandy is struggling to understand and know what to do.

Tammie also mentioned that someone from the hospital talked to Mandy about starting Chris on palliative care which isn't hospice but is kind of similar. Mandy is going to talk to a lady about that today and then talk to Chris' parents.

Chris had a friend come in yesterday afternoon and after visiting with him for an hour, when the guy left Chris asked Mandy who he was. So, this is very sad to see him be so confused and you can only imagine how Mandy is feeling right now.

Anyway, that is the latest information I have. I know that Mandy is swamped right now with handling all the decisions, bills, and just taking care of Chris. Please pray for her strength and please pray for Chris' mindset and for his doctors to know what is the best course of action.

Thank you to everyone who is preparing and bringing meals for the Joyces this week and next. Mandy has mentioned several times how comforting it is to know that her mom and the kids are being fed and taken care of! Thank you all so much!!
