Update on Chris 7-28-07
Chris was admitted to Baylor Dallas this last Tuesday. As you may recall, this was a decision that Chris and I made when we came home on Hospice. We wanted him to be in the hospital when his condition got bad enough that we didn’t want the kids to see him like this. We had a wonderful day with him on Monday and by Tuesday, he had started to decline, becoming non responsive, very weak and unable to communicate his pain level to me. The nurse noticed all of these changes as well and decided that it was time. He has continued to decline while in the hospital and although the doctor doesn’t expect him to make it to Monday, he is young and has a strong heart, which seems to be making him hold on a little longer. Although he is mostly non responsive, we have shared some really special moments with him, where he has squeezed our hands or opened his eyes to look at us. They are giving him comfort care only and have really done an amazing job of keeping his pain under control and accommodating our family needs. Many blessings to the staff of 6 Roberts at Baylor. We have had such wonderful support from friends, family and surrounding churches. As you can imagine, this is very hard on our whole family, but we are being strong and trusting God to carry us through this. There is such peace in the hospital room, as we have continuously played praise music and surrounded Chris with love and prayers. Please keep our family in your prayers, especially our children, as they are really struggling with the emotions they feel right now. Please also continue to check the blog site for new information, since I am not always able to get out an e-mail. We love you all and are so grateful to have so much love and support.
Mandy

P.S. Visitors are welcome to love on and pray for Chris or sit with family anytime.

I am praying for you daily. I can just imagine what songs and cd's you are playing. I hope you are playing one of his favorite cd. The Celtic praise and Worship Cd. We played this CD over and over while we were working a my church's light system.
Mandy, God is in control and there is a reason for all this. May God comfort you and the kids. Lean on you earthly family and your heavenly Father.

Mandy,
I have been praying for you so hard this week. My husband Nathan met Chris when he ran sound for the Axxess service at Pantego in the late 90's and then worked directly under him at Sound Reinforcements in 2000-2001. I spoke with Chris in January of 2006 when Nathan had a severe mountain biking accident and was in the hospital for 3 weeks with a broken neck and severe head injuries. Chris was so precious and caring, as usual. It blessed me so much at a time when I had no idea what the future held for our family. God has taken such good care of us and Nathan is continuing to recover. I know that God is carrying you and your sweet children through this scary time and giving you peace. I know what that feels like because God carried me through that scary time and continues to carry us. We love you and we pray that you continue to feel very strongly the arms of Jesus around you.
