Update on Chris 2-5-07
Great news to share today!!! Chris has officially been unhooked from ALL tubes, cables, wires and other attachments!!! This was very exciting for us! More good news… this morning, the social worker started working on Chris’ rehab transfer right away. She told us that some one would be coming over to evaluate Chris to determine if he is ready to move to full time rehab. The doctor came in a little later and told us that the rehab lady had already come through and didn’t even look at Chris, cause she determined he “didn’t meet the criteria” to be moved to their rehab center, after only looking at his chart. The doctor was not happy about this, so he called in a favor to his friend, the medical director at the Rehab Center, and asked her to pull some strings. Within an hour, some one else from Baylor Rehab came over to introduce themselves and tell us that they are ready to move Chris! They are finalizing insurance and should be moving him sometime on Tuesday! He will be moving to the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation, still on the Baylor Dallas campus. I will let you know his exact location when I find out more info tomorrow. He will be doing a minimum of 3 hours of rehab per day, including machines and aquatics! He is so excited! Praise God for Dr. Agura and his team for believing in Chris.
In the process of all of this, I overheard a phone call between the insurance coordinator and the rehab center. The rehab lady couldn’t believe that the 4th floor bone marrow unit had a “Real Life Rehab Patient”! The insurance coordinator explained to her that Chris Joyce is a “Miracle, miracle, miracle”! I was filled with tears of joy to hear the medical staff proclaiming God’s goodness and giving Him all the glory!
Chris is feeling great. No chemo symptoms right now. He is eating well and breathing well on his own. Thank you for your prayers for Chris as he starts this new chapter in his story this week. Help us send up lots of praises to God today!
Love,
Mandy
P.S. Here is my prayer for today…
(taken from Hillsongs United “From the Inside Out”)
Everlasting, your light will shine when all else fades.
Never ending, your glory goes beyond all things.
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise.
From the Inside out, Lord my soul cries out.
