Update on Chris 2-8-07
Chris did most of his therapy today, but was stopped by a concern that popped up. Through a routine blood test, they determined that Chris needed to be checked for blood clots. They did a sonogram on his leg and found a blood clot in his groin area. They halted his physical activity for the rest of the day and did a CT Scan this evening to confirm if it had affected his lungs in any way. This test came back clear. He has been put on bed rest until further notice. Although blood clots can be common, they have to take it seriously. While most may be treated with blood thinners, Chris’ platelets are already low from chemo, so this is not a safe option. So, they are considering the possibility of surgery. The surgery would involve putting a filter in his vein, to help stop the clot from traveling. The doctor has been coming through in the mornings, so we expect to hear more in the morning about the plan. Chemo and physical therapy are on hold for now. Thank you for your continued prayers.
