Update on Chris 2-1-07
Chris’ physical condition continues to improve every day. For the last two mornings, I arrived at the hospital to find him sitting in a wheelchair, looking out the window. Today, I got to wheel him around in the halls. It was nice to get “out” a little. He is getting stronger every day and the doctors believe he is about ready to move forward with more extensive rehabilitation likely in another full rehab center. The options are still being researched and this move will likely not happen until after the weekend. His mental state has greatly improved and I would say he is pretty much 100% “all there” now. He has some random memories from the last month, but doesn’t have a lot of memory from the week after he came off of the breathing tube and all of the anxiety he went through. His speech has greatly improved as well. Last night, we took Allison to visit him and the first time she heard him talk, she said… He has his real Daddy voice back! This was very encouraging to Chris, since he had been concerned about his speech.
God is doing unbelievable things in Chris’ recovery, as we still continue to trust him for full healing. One of the rotating doctors came through today and told us that Chris’ AFP level (tumor marker) has continued to go up. It was 16,000 last week and has gone up to 24,000. They are very concerned and have scheduled a Pet Scan to be done as soon as possible, to find out where the cancer is growing so rapidly. After they receive the Pet Scan results, they will determine a course of action, whether it be radiation, chemo or surgery. Please continue to pray for Chris’ strength, emotionally and physically. Although Chris is tired of the fight, he believes that God has it handled.
We love you,
Mandy
