Joyce Update 1-30-07
Today was a good day for Chris. Physical therapy went well and they were able to get him out of the bed for the first time and into a chair to sit for awhile. He sat by himself for about thirty minutes and then got too tired and called the nurse. He was able to assist them in getting him into the chair, but was wiped out after sitting and slept for two hours after they moved him back to bed. Still, this was a great milestone and we were so happy! Chris is starting to notice his own progression every day. Although he has strong desires to come home, he now knows what is necessary to get him to that point. The doctor still has not gave a definite go home time, but when Chris told him he wanted to be home by this Saturday, before Superbowl, the doctor said it will likely be a couple more weeks. He is using his arms very well and can feed himself, use the phone and do some things on the computer. He is happy about this, since there is a lot he can do with his phone ad computer. Our next milestone we’re waiting for is for him to be able to sit long enough to take a shower. Hopefully he is getting close to being able to do this soon. We have had a lot of good talks about what has happened in the last month, while he was asleep. He is humbled by the miracles that God has worked in him and so grateful for all of you who have prayed and helped us in so many ways. His appetite continues to improve every day and he is also sleeping better. Thank you for your prayers.
Special prayer need… My mom has been real sick last night and today. As you know, she is the rock that has kept our house running while Chris and I have been at the hospital. Not sure what is making her feel so bad, but she is running fever with chills and fatigue. Please pray that God will refresh her and make her feel well. We were able to make some other arrangements for the kids for today and tomorrow.
