Update on Chris 1-21-07 10 pm
Today was a great day… Praise the lord! Chris was able to come off of the By-Pap mask today and is just wearing a regular oxygen mask. His numbers were staying good on this mask all day long. The doctor did say that his chest x-rays were a little bad yesterday, but were better today. He said that they have it under control and they still consider him to be progressing very well. Chris is still trying to communicate a lot. He is still hard to understand, but I was able to make out some words and had some good communication with him. He is still having some anxiety and seems to be having some confusion, a side effect from coming off of the medications. The nurse says this will take a few more days to clear up. At times, he is very emotional and afraid. Visitors may not be a good idea still for another day or two, since he is sometimes startled and confused. It’s better to have the least amount of stimulation for right now. I will let you all know when the “coast is clear”. He had a good physical therapy session today! They sat him up on the side of the bed. They had to completely support him, but he was able to do 10 leg lifts on each leg, mostly by himself. Unfortunately, the nurse had forgotten about PT coming and gave him some pain medicine that made him too tired to have a very long PT session. Oh well, he did well and they will be back everyday. I was proud of him. He is frustrated that it is taking long, but I think he began to understand how far he’s come and how important it is to get completely well and strong before he can leave the hospital. Please pray for his mind to be peaceful and that he would regain his strength quickly. In closing, the best thing that happened today was that he wanted to hug me. You have to know how long I’ve been waiting for that. Like I said… it was a great day!
Love,
Mandy
P.S. Oh, and I finally got my Christmas stuff put away! Yippee!
