Chris update 1-20-07 10:50 pm
Chris was put on the By/Pap machine today, to assist him with his breathing. This machine pushes a small amount of pressure and oxygen into his lungs to help him. In the beginning of the day, his Oxygen saturation was around 93-95. By mid afternoon, it had gone up to 98 and above and stayed that way for the rest of the day. All of his numbers look good and besides the occasional anxiety spells, he is progressing well. He is still a little hard to understand, but we were able to make a few words here and there. He REALLY wants to go home. He asked for his wallet and keys. We explained to him that he is getting better and needs more time to get stronger. He asked about the kids and wants to see them. We will arrange that in the next few days. At times, he has some fear and forgets where he is at and what is going on. But, he usually relaxes when we talk to him. I had a long talk to him early this afternoon and told him about how the kids are doing, how I am doing, what our home group and community group has done to help out around the house, and told him how supportive his co-workers have been. This all calmed him down and before I knew it, he was snoring and slept for almost four hours after that, with no interruptions! Praise God for the much needed rest. He has been saying thank you to the nurses and they just love him and think he is so sweet. I am home for the night to sleep and will be going up early in the morning with Chris’ sister. Keep praying! Miracles are happening every day! I look forward to having more good news to share tomorrow!
Love,
Mandy
P.S. Since his blood gas tests have stayed good, they will be taking out his line for that tomorrow. They have also started giving him ice chips. He is still not digesting the tube feedings well, but they will still work towards starting a liquid diet. This will help him get stronger.
