Update on Chris Friday 10 pm
Sorry to send out another update… I am sure some of you have been overloaded with info today. I will try to make this short. Chris was finally taken off of the breathing tube today! He had a fantastic nurse who was very proactive in moving forward. Praise God for this milestone that at one time, we thought would never come. The first 24-48 hours is critical, cause sometimes patients have to be put back on the tube. It is important that Chris gets as much rest as possible, so that he can focus on his breathing. This has been hard today, because he is trying very hard to communicate with us. We are unable to understand what he is telling us, because his voice has not come back. This will improve within the next day or two. He is getting very frustrated that we cannot understand him and we have worked and worked on this, over and over. We have talked to him, explaining everything and trying to comfort him. The doctor is limiting his medication in order to keep him awake enough to make sure he can do this on his own. The doctor suggested that it may not be a good idea to have visitors since he is trying so hard to communicate. If he sees us, he wants to talk and this uses up too much energy. So, the nurse encouraged me to go home, see the kids and rest, to start a new day tomorrow. So, I have come home and I feel very confident that he is in good hands and we will just continue to pray that he will improve through the night, that God will give him peace and that God will continue to unfold this miracle in His time. Please also pray for peace and comfort for me and the family. It is so hard to see Chris so anxious and not be able to do much to comfort him. We have missed him so much and long to be able to just talk to him. Visitors to Chris’ room may be limited for a few days, but you are welcome to stop by to say hello or sit with family. We are unsure of what the next few days will hold, so we will trust God to carry Chris through this. Thank you for your prayers.
Love you all,
Mandy
