Update on Chris 3-21-07
Just wanted to let you know what’s been going on around the Joyce house this week. Chris started his in home therapy on Tuesday. First, he had Occupational Therapy. I have something really special to tell you about this… the OT’s name is Tommy. We found out that he has been close friends with Justin’s Kindergarten teacher for about 20 years! Their families use to go to church together. Apparently, he used to be a youth pastor and got called into the medical field and really uses his work as a ministry. Of all the occupational therapists, how did this happen! One more example of God being in the details!
Chris had physical therapy in the afternoon. The PT couldn’t believe how much better Chris looked than last week, before he went to the hospital. He worked real hard with both therapists and every one was very pleased with the day’s progress. Chris is still not eating and drinking very much, but it seems to be improving everyday. His nausea is definitely improving and he does not need as much medication for this. He has been sleeping a lot, but pulled out his laptop for a little while yesterday. It was nice to see him feel well enough to do that. He is so anxious to feel well enough to get back to his life as much as possible. He is getting around better than I have seen thus far. He isn’t using a cane, but can still only go about 50 feet before he needs to rest. I am sure if we had to get out, he would probably need to use his wheelchair. He has not had to use any oxygen since he left the hospital on Sunday! He will be seeing both therapists again on Thursday and will continue indefinitely.
His next doctors’ appointment and chemo is scheduled for Thursday, March 29th. PLEASE pray hard with us during this time. Needless to say, we are concerned that chemo may knock him down again. But, it is necessary to continue the treatment plan. Please pray that the chemo will do its’ job and that Chris will stay strong in the days following.
Thanks to those who have continued to pray, bring meals and help with rides. We love you all.
